OPERATION – The sun shines upon the solar collectors and warms the antifreeze solution within. Whenever the solar controller senses that there is solar energy to be harvested, a small pump circulates the warm antifreeze to a heat exchanger within the solar storage tank and then back to the solar collectors to be reheated.

The pump will run either fast or slow depending on the amount of solar energy available. In the spring, summer, or fall when there is excess solar energy, the hot anti-freeze solution can be diverted to other uses such as radiant heating, pool heating, or root zone heating by opening a valve on the Solar Supplements Manifold.
